Shiny and proper teeth as well as natural smile are one the most important things when seeing someone for the first time. With majestic possibilities of modern dental medicine, technology and new generation materials, nowadays they should not be an exception but standard.

After some period of time, our teeth are not aesthetically or functionally satisfactory. A wish for a shiny and young smile, with good and long-term solutions with modern dental medicine, can come true.

Substitution of lost teeth, treatments and fixing of existing teeth, as well as aesthetic and functional corrections, are a part of aesthetic dental medicine. When talking about aesthetic dental medicine, primarily it means dental prosthetic.

Dental prosthetic is a field of dental medicine which substitutes lost teeth, corrects existing teeth improves function and aesthetic appearance of teeth, as well as quality of your life.

Dental prosthetic is divided to mobile and fix prosthetic.

Mobile Prosthetic

In cases when it is not possible to build in a fix prosthetic, mobile prosthetic is an adequate solution. Mobile prosthetic can be total or partial.

Total prosthetic can be put on implants. The most common problem with prosthesis is their instability.

Mobilna protetika

Stability is gained with special fasteners that make prosthesis more stable and more comfortable to wear.

With special fasteners prosthesis is connected with tooth and there is no possibility of falling out or moving.

Those prosthesis have reduced size, they are fixed and more comfortable to wear. The alternative is to put prosthesis on implants, so called All on 4.

Fixed Prosthesis

Fixed prosthesis implies crowns and bridges. Those are fixed in mouth and are not taken out.

In Detall center it is possible to have even the simplest veneer crowns but our specialities are ceramic crowns and bridges.

The patient can choose between non-metal and metal ceramics.

Metal Ceramics Crowns

Metal ceramics crowns and bridges have metal base (noble alloy) on which ceramics is baked (metal is not seen). Teeth are aesthetically and functionally satisfactory.

Non-metal ceramics, cercon or lithium disilicate ceramics aesthetically is superior to metal ceramics.

Metalkeramička krunica

Zirconia Ceramics (Non-Metal, Total Ceramics)

All major aesthetic restoration requests have resulted increased usage of dental ceramics for front and back restorations.

Due to insufficient resistance and durability, in the past was ceramics used only with front teeth (small bite force, as opposed to back teeth).

Zircon is biocompatible, causes no allergic reactions to surrounding tissue and therefore is very unsuitable for plaque accumulation that slows gum withdraw.

Keramička krunica

Zirconia ceramics is total ceramics that takes top place in aesthetic dental medicine.

Zircon oxide is used in space vehicle industry and orthopaedics (prosthetic hip joints and knees).

Zircon dioxide has better optical characteristics than metal. Natural aesthetic effect is the same under different lights, such as daily or artificial light.

Due to excellent firmness and breaking resistance, zircon ceramics can be used for fixed prosthesis of wider range, where is necessary to substitute more teeth (from solo crowns to semi-circular bridge).

“IPS E max”

Ceramics "IPS E max" is a new system of lithium disilicate glass ceramics (LS2). With E max you get healthy, natural and beautiful smile with natural light sputtering and balanced light and colour rate.

Colour palette and firmness completely substitutes tooth with natural enamel. This type of crowns is made with CAD/CAM digital technology that scans the tooth and shapes it to future crown from already made ceramic blocks.

IPS e max keramika

The great advantage of E max is that with satisfactory firmness and durability you gain excellent aesthetics.

It is suitable for minor prosthetic procedures mainly in front area due to need for high aesthetic results in smile zone (ceramic veneers, inlays, onlays, solo crowns, and bridges of smaller range – to four participants).

With E max fixed prosthesis of wider range can be done as well (in combination with zircon dioxide as basis).

Metal Ceramics

Crowns/bridges made of metal ceramics are a combination of metal basis and external ceramic layer. Metal base can be made out of various noble alloys.

It is in charge of firmness and precise fitting of prosthetics. For aesthetics external ceramic layer is in charge.

Metal is covered with ceramics completely, so it cannot be seen. There is a great indication for metal ceramics, from solo crowns to semi-circular bridge.

Their advantage is lower price than total ceramics with satisfactory aesthetics.

Anti-bruxism

Splints Bruxism is disorder which leads to squeezing and/or grinding teeth during sleep. Majority of experts agrees that bruxism is a result of stress.

Antibruksistička udlaga

During those night phases of squeezing and/or grinding teeth, greater forces in nervous system are created (absence of pain reflex) than it is possible when we are awake.

Therefore, bruxism can lead to muscle pain and jaw joint, causes effusive teeth abrasion, damaging teeth (fractures) and prosthesis.

The most common therapy is acrylic resin bite-guard splints that ease the pain, teeth abrasion and prosthesis damaging.

Sport Splints

Doing sports for majority of people represents time for relaxation.

One of the most common tooth traumas is sports trauma. Generally, cutting teeth are hit due their front position (tooth avulsion, tooth rupture, tooth root rupture, etc.).

Sportska udlaga

Danger of trauma exists with every sport that has contacts.

The prevention of injuries of teeth and surrounding areas is achieved with sport splints. They are made of acrylate and with diverting and amortising of force they prevent injuries very effectively.

Fix Prosthesis Steps Examination

  1. X-ray (orthopantomogram) image analysis and suggestion of the best solution
  2. Preparation for impression
  3. During visit we can make temporary bridges that reduce hot/cold sensitivity after drilling and aesthetically replace drilled teeth (while waiting for final prosthesis)
  4. It is possible to take an impress right away, dependently of patients condition
  5. In a few days (2-3) we try-out the metal or cercon and choose the colour in agreement with dental technician
  6. Final arrival implies try-out of final prosthesis – we check colour and shape and if it is satisfactory, we cement it

FAQ

1. How long does the procedure of fix prosthesis last?

The whole procedure lasts approximately 7 days, but it can be done in 3 days, regarding of patients desires. In the meantime you have temporary substitution so you are not without teeth in any moment.

2. What are advantages of zirconia ceramics opposed to metal-ceramic prosthesis?

First of all better aesthetics, low thermal diffusivity (lower hot/cold sensitivity), it is not allergenic (with metal there can be allergic reactions), construction with computer precision, mechanical resistance is achieved with 0,4mm thickness, there is a possibility of high polish of crown edge (good correlation with gums), nonexistence of black edge or gingiva discoloration with time (that can occur with metal-ceramic crowns).

3. How many teeth can be replaced with bridge?

With bridge you can replace one or more teeth; it depends of method of fastening. During first visit the dentist will define the max number of teeth for one bridge.
